July 2010 Campout
Baker City Oregon

Only five rigs made it to this campout. July is a busy month for us. But as you will see, the others missed a very good campout.

We stayed at Mtn. View RV Park in Baker City. We were pleased with the facility. They were very accommodating. We had the meeting room for games and pot luck.

We had lunch the first day at the Geiser Grand Hotel.

Then the ladies went shopping.

We took a drive through Sumpter and around Anthony Lakes. We stopped to see the old gold dredge in Sumpter. We were given a special tour which was very informative.

Our drive ended at the Steakhouse in Haines, just in time for dinner.

The next day we went to the National Historic Oregon Trail Interpretive Center.

At the Interpretive Center we took a guided tour to see the flora and fauna,
then we attended a lecture about music on the Oregon Trail. Phil and Vivian Williams were outstanding musicians and story tellers.

"Vivian Williams has long been heralded as a master of Celtic, old-time and bluegrass styles. Williams is a prize winning fiddler with long experience of playing for dances around her native Seattle, and her playing has the lift and drive needed for good barn dancing."

Baker City has a great museum. The rock and mineral collection is especially good. While our tour guide stepped out for a moment we posed for a picture.

After the museum tour they opened the historic Adler House for us.
We got a special tour.

We held a Swing Golf tournament. What a great campout!
