The chapter was originally organized in June 1978 as the T-Totalers chapter of the Good Sam RV Club. The four charter member couples were a group of Christian believers "forming to have fellowship with RVer's who love to go camping and enjoy the great outdoors". They wanted to organize a non-drinking, non-smoking chapter.

None of the original members are still active with the chapter.

In the 1990s the chapter changed its name to "Time To Travel" in order to facilitate growing the membership. However the original non-drinking, non-smoking ideals were retained within the standing rules.
